Industrial Scientific, a global leader and innovator in full-service gas detection programs that automate safety workflows, has confirmed that its’ Tango TX1 gas monitor will be included on an approved list of suitable gas detectors by BG RCI, a German provider of statutory accident insurance for industrial environments.
To be included on BG RCI’s approved list, the Tango TX1 had to obtain ATEX Performance Certification and undergo rigorous testing that included sensor response time, accuracy, battery runtime, and a long-term, 12-week drift test.
While these tests are part of European standards and are recommended as best practice, ATEX performance certification is a legal requirement in Germany - and industrial end-users are required to use gas monitors that are listed on BG RCI’s approved list. If an on-site accident or fatality occurs, and the user and/or company is not using a gas detector from BG RCI’s approved list, the risks and penalties can soar into the millions. Users with a gas detector from the approved list, however, face lower risks and less expensive penalties.
“Having Tango TX1 added to the BG RCI approved list is a major breakthrough for the business, and ensures the highest levels of gas detection performance and reliability. ATEX performance certification, which is required to be BG RCI listed, is difficult to achieve and Industrial Scientific is now one of only a select few manufacturers to be included in the BG RCI approved list. We look forward to delivering exceptional quality and reliability to our customers in Germany, as we pursue Our Mission of eliminating death on the job by 2050.” said Gavin Boorman, Managing Director and General Manager, Industrial Scientific EMEA.
